Electrical Infrastructure
Central-West Orana REZ Project
Central-West Orana Region of NSW
Project description
The CWO REZ spans approximately 20,000 square kilometres and includes the construction and 35 year operation of 90 km of 500 kV transmission line, forming the backbone of the new network, connecting two new 500 kV substations to the existing NSW grid.
It also delivers 150 km of 330 kV transmission lines and thirteen switching stations, linking key electricity generating projects (wind, solar, and battery storage) within the REZ to the primary infrastructure and then to the state network.
The program involves temporary and permanent civil works, including new and upgrades bridge & road to support construction and long‑term operations.
The CWO REZ will unlock at least 4.5 GW of new network capacity by 2027–28, increasing to up to 6 GW by 2038.
